What is Microsoft doing with Linux? Everything you need to know about its plans for open source
Over time, Microsoft support for Linux has grown more enthusiastic, with 60 percent of the images on Azure Marketplace now based on Linux. Microsoft SQL Server is also part of that ecosystem, as more and more container and private cloud technologies are built on Linux infrastructure. Microsoft Azure can provide best-in-class support for Linux and container infrastructure because of Microsoft’s increased understanding of running Linux—especially now, in a hyperscale cloud.
Bonus: Azure customers get the same hybrid benefits for Linux support contracts as with Microsoft Windows Server.
